Comments | The material contains complex but light-hearted themes that are presented in a comedy drama, exploring issues of family relationships, romance, love, match-making, competition, and jealousy, friendships, being in denial, a royal family, and companionship. The themes carry a low sense of threat and menace caused by a Mr. Elton who becomes a little aggressive when he gets rejected by Emma. They, however, do not carry the potential to cause any psychological harm to the younger viewers. The themes are overall light-hearted with comedic tones. The predominant theme of love is presented in a positive light and the overall message is that love conquers anything. The themes are treated in a way that would be within the tolerance levels of viewers 10 years and older as they would have a better understanding of some of the themes and parental guidance would also assist them in recognising the context and providing re-assurance. However, viewers younger than 10 may find the material a little bit disturbing and upsetting as there is a scene of substance abuse which doesn’t carry a clear anti-substance abuse message, when the one character Mr. Elton gets rejected by Emma, he gets a little bit aggressive, while under the influence of alcohol, as Emma states “Mr. Elton you are drunk”. Younger viewers may have a hard time in making sense of such a scene more especially because it is not followed by strong anti-substance abuse messages. Therefore, viewers 10 and older would have the ability to comprehend such themes and parental guidance would assist and warn them against such behaviours. |
