Two classic local films from yesteryear. Black Tax is about Thabo, 26, a young professional who looks like he has his life together. He drives a nice car, he lives in a fancy apartment, but he has a secret. He is drowning in debt. He can’t get out of it because, unlike his peers, he has a family to look after. His parents. His siblings. His nieces and nephews. His cousins. His aunts. And this family is growing all the time, their demands growing. Every day, someone is asking for something. He seems like an endless font of money, but something has to give. iMbali is about Mbali, who is getting married, and her adoptive father is delighted until her biological father arrives. The battle between the two fathers disrupts her wedding plans. In vernacular with English subtitles.
